While the law requires an XO to be aged for at least 10 years, Richard Delisle selects spirits that have matured for significantly longer—often reaching 20 to 30 years. Maturing in the House's humid cellars, the spirit undergoes a slow oxidation, concentrating the flavors and developing the legendary Rancio Charentais. This natural process results in a cognac that is extraordinarily dense, velvety, and rich in secondary aromas.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A deep, shimmering mahogany with brilliant ruby and coppery reflections.

Nose: Powerful, complex, and deeply aromatic. It opens with an explosion of dried fruits (figs, prunes, and apricots), followed by the noble scents of old leather, cigar box, and sandalwood. Subtle notes of dark chocolate and gingerbread provide a sweet, spicy backdrop.

Palate: The texture is sumptuously thick and velvety. On the palate, it reveals immense depth with layers of candied orange, honeyed walnuts, and coffee. The mid-palate is structured and intense, showcasing a perfect integration of oak tannins and the savory, earthy notes of well-aged rancio.
