Martell XO Extra Old Cognac

Powerful, Sophisticated, Iconic The perfect balance between the strength of Grande Champagne and the elegance of Borderies.

Martell XO is the House’s signature interpretation of the prestigious Grande Champagne terroir. It is a masterful blend that achieves a rare harmony: the structure and intensity of the Premier Cru (Grande Champagne) are tempered by the floral smoothness of the rare Borderies cru the historic hallmark of Maison Martell for over 300 years. This "Extra Old" expression is aged for a minimum of 10 years, with some eaux-de-vie in the blend maturing for up to 35 years in fine-grained French oak.

A Visionary Design

Instantly recognizable by its emblematic arch-shaped decanter, Martell XO is as much a work of art as it is a world-class spirit. The bottle's silhouette was designed to reflect the visionary spirit of Jean Martell, combining traditional heritage with a bold, contemporary presence. On the back of the bottle, the Martell swift is magnified and engraved, symbolizing the House’s freedom and audacity.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A deep, golden amber with shimmering dark copper and mahogany highlights.

Nose: The first impression is spicy and vibrant, with notes of black and pink pepper and coriander. These are followed by rich, "gourmet" aromas of fig, walnut, and sandalwood, creating a complex and noble bouquet.

Palate: An initial roundness and fruitiness on the tongue, revealing intense notes of fig, red fruit, and blackcurrant bud. The mid-palate showcases the full power and finesse of the Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, offering a robust and velvety texture.

Finish: Exceptionally long and silken. It leaves a persistent, elegant trail of warm spices and refined woody notes.
