The Martell Extra Cohiba is a unique masterpiece within the Martell collection. Unlike most expressions that favor the Borderies, this prestigious cognac is crafted exclusively from 100% Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie. Developed by Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud, it was specifically engineered to possess the strength and aromatic density required to perfectly complement the rich, smoky flavors of a high-end Cuban cigar specifically the legendary Cohiba.

A Masterpiece of Patience

This "Extra" aged cognac is a blend of exceptionally rare eaux-de-vie, some of which have matured for 40 to 55 years in fine-grained French oak barrels. This extensive aging process in the Martell cellars allows the spirit to develop a profound "rancio" and a structural complexity that only half a century of slumber can provide. It stands as one of only two cognacs in the House’s range to be sourced entirely from the Premier Cru of the region.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A deep, majestic amber with brilliant golden highlights and rich mahogany reflections.

Nose: Opulent and multifaceted. It opens with sweet notes of dried berries and roasted coffee beans, followed by a "gourmet" layer of toasted almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts. Subtle floral undertones and a distinct hint of liquorice provide a sophisticated aromatic lift.

Palate: The attack is remarkably round, smooth, and sweet. As it unfolds, the palate reveals immense depth with layers of vanilla, tobacco leaf, and aged wood. Its full-bodied texture is designed to stand up to and harmonize with the lingering smoke of a cigar.

Finish: Exceptionally long and resonant. A persistent finish characterized by a touch of liquorice and a slight, elegant nuttiness.
