Michel Forgeron | Cognac "Barrique 87" - 50cl
Michel Forgeron | Cognac "Barrique 87" - 50cl
Age of the cognac : Vintage
Controlled Designation of Origin : Grande Champagne
Bottle size : 500ml
Alcohol percentage : 56%
Eye : Deep mahogany with amber highlights and rich copper reflections. The viscosity produces slow, thick tears that gracefully descend the glass, indicating its exceptional age and concentration.
Nose : An elegant bouquet of pastry notes intertwined with floral aromatics of jasmine and iris. Subtle spice elements of clove emerge alongside hints of dried fruits, candied orange peel, and antique leather. The oak influence is present but beautifully integrated, offering subtle vanilla and toasted almond nuances. With time in the glass, deeper notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, and dried figs become more pronounced.
Palate : Powerful yet balanced entry with remarkable complexity. The wood influence is prominent but harmonious, delivering rich chocolate notes complemented by spiced fruit cake, toasted nuts, and honeyed sweetness. Mid-palate reveals layers of rancio character typical of well-aged Grande Champagne cognacs—mushroom, truffle, and forest floor notes intermingle with caramelized fruits. The 56% ABV provides impressive structure without overwhelming the delicate tertiary flavors. A touch of exotic sandalwood and incense adds further dimension to this exceptionally complex spirit.
