Martell Blue Swift Spirit Drink
Bold, Unexpected, Exceptionally Smooth A groundbreaking bridge between French heritage and American spirit.
In 1783, Martell was the first Maison to ship its barrels of cognac to the United States. Today, Martell Blue Swift celebrates this historic connection with a daring innovation: the first-ever spirit drink made of Cognac VSOP finished in Kentucky Bourbon casks. Because the cognac is finished in bourbon barrels a process not permitted under the strict "Cognac" AOC designation this expression is proudly labeled a "Spirit Drink," offering a flavor profile that breaks all the rules.
The Audacity of Two Worlds
Martell Blue Swift begins with the House’s signature VSOP, distilled from clear wines for characteristic purity. After maturing in French oak, the eaux-de-vie are transferred to American bourbon barrels. This secondary aging allows the cognac to absorb the rich, toasted aromatic tones of the bourbon wood, resulting in a luscious fusion of Martell’s fruitiness and the sweet, comforting notes of American whiskey.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: An elegant copper with shimmering golden highlights.
Nose: Rich and "gourmet" in character. Captivating aromas of caramelized pear and ripe banana are balanced by the subtle sweetness of vanilla, coconut, and a hint of cooling menthol.
Palate: Voluptuous and incredibly round. The initial sensation is one of fullness, revealing deep notes of ginger and candied plums. The bourbon cask influence emerges through layers of toasted oak and a creamy, honeyed texture.
Finish: Exceptionally long and smooth. It leaves a persistent trail of toasted wood and sweet spices, showcasing the unique character of the bourbon finish.
