The Martell L'Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Dragon Edition Cognac, released in 2024 to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Dragon, is a rare and prestigious offering from Maison Martell. Limited to fewer than 750 individually numbered pieces, this exquisite cognac represents a blend of power, perseverance, nobility, and immortality, attributes associated with the dragon in Chinese culture.
This special edition maintains the essence of the original L'Or de Jean Martell blend while also embodying the characteristics of the dragon through the selection of very old eaux-de-vie from various Dragon years. The result is a harmonious and complex blend of more than 1,400 eaux-de-vie from the finest terroirs in the Cognac region, combining intensity and elegance with warmth and generosity.
The Martell L'Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Dragon Edition Cognac presents a sumptuous golden amber color with rich mahogany highlights. The aroma weaves together floral fragrances with a rich tapestry of tamarind, lotus seeds, longan (also known as dragon’s eye), and a selection of dried fruits, complemented by a warm embrace of spices and noble woods like Chinese cinnamon, Sichuan pepper, cedar, and sandalwood. On the palate, it offers a luxurious array of candied and dried fruits, berries, soft spices, and noble wood, crafting a sensation of warmth. The cognac is characterized by its exceptional length on the palate.
The decanter of this edition is a masterpiece of design. It has a bold, spherical shape, symbolizing completeness and perfection, and features a sculptural representation of a dragon’s head on the stopper, capturing the essence of the Zodiac Dragon. The decanter’s neck and upper part are adorned with a golden collar, adding elegance and luxury. The base, resembling the scales of a dragon, completes the ensemble.
