Fifty Years of Silence. One Extraordinary Voice.
In 1975, the vineyards of Grande Champagne yielded a harvest of exceptional quality defined by brilliant sunshine, a high diurnal temperature range, remarkable aromatic concentration and perfect natural balance. Those eaux-de-vie entered the historic cellars at 16 Quai de l'Orangerie in Jarnac, and there they remained, quietly evolving in 350-litre casks of fine to medium-grained oak, for fifty years.
The result is the HINE Vintage 1975 Timeless Poetry. A single vintage Grande Champagne cognac of astonishing complexity, presented in a bespoke porcelain decanter hand-crafted by the legendary French maison Bernardaud. The decanter's sculptural form three broad faces embellished with artwork by French artist Manon Briquet de Valon, crowned with a fluted stopper inspired by Hine's historic style is as much a work of art as the cognac within. Limited to just 450 bottles worldwide.
Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Deep, rich amber with burnished mahogany undertones the colour of five decades of patient maturation.
Nose:
Extraordinarily complex: candied fruits lead the way, followed by roasted pineapple, baked apple, cinnamon and vanilla. A profound depth that reveals new dimensions with every encounter.
Palate:
Silky and monumental candied fruits, liquorice and gently warming spices build to a rich, sustained crescendo. Simultaneously powerful and delicate, a balance only achieved by cognacs of this exceptional age and provenance.
Finish:
Extraordinary and seemingly endless the finish of a half-century in oak, carrying with it the full weight and grace of time.
